Deactivated guns are those which have been harmed or altered in a manner that they can't sensibly work, or be made to work, as guns: the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 made the rebuttable assumption that those guns deactivated to details set around the Secretary of State, and guaranteed as being what is indicated by one of the Proof Houses, stopped to be firearms.[244] However, such things obviously still fall inside of the meaning of impersonation guns and the same limitations on their utilization apply.
