    Ammo

Was in a couple sport shops yesterday. A run on ammo is taking place and the shelf is bare. Heard on the news another record gun selling month. This is nation wide.

A few years ago I started purchasing ammo for my grandchildren not even born yet. Cost are insane if you find it.
Each election cycle the politicians send shooting sports cost through the roof. It gets old.

Does the UK see the same cycle during elections? Shortages by popular caliber and rifle?

    Hi Tobkis,

In the UK anyone with a shotgun license can buy and store any amount of shotgun cartridges.

As for rifles you can only buy and hold a set amount maybe several hundred rounds at most. Permission for Larger quantities may be grated of say 1500 rounds for larger estates than require it.
There are very severe consequences if you get stopped with or found to be storing over the limit.

I am not aware of any shortages at the moment. We sometime have difficulty getting in exotic calibre's sometimes.

Thanks for the info, do you purchase the ammo in any store or are the places that sell ammo shooting clubs only? Can you purchase bulk shotgun shells via the webz and have it delivered to your home? The reason I ask is cost. When I purchase 7.62x39 rounds I get 5000 rounds each time to drop cost per round, same goes for my .410 bore 000 buckshot, 54r and 22sllr.

Yep, at the local gun shop and at the shooting club / event.
Yes we can buy shotgun cartridges online. This is a well known site that a lot of people use https://www.justcartridges.com/ but I dont think it is possible to buy rifle rounds as a tally has to be kept.

Definitely a saving in bulk. 12g is the cheapest out of all the other shotgun calibres. We also get a lot of Spanish and Italian imported here. My favorite shell is Fiocchi, they seem to be the happy medium for price vs quality.
I suppose 22lr would be the most common riffle round.

I friend of mine has Ruger in a creedmore calibre (I think) and he said that the price has gone through the roof of imported ammo since corona. I will get him to post a few pictures.

Yep, full blown ammo run is now on. Empty shelves and limiting purchases is in effect to include handguns and rifles. It really sucks for our youth getting into the sport.

It seems every survivalist, prepper, Rambo or housewife needs 22lr.
