Thread: Buckshot vs Birdshot

For home defense options, what's most effective, buckshot or birdshot? Roy Huntington, editor of American Handgunner, takes on this question after field testing 00 buck and #8 birdshot, out of a Remington 870 at a close range target.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I watched this video. It was very well done and raised a lot of good points. I will definitely have to consider which is the best for my purposes. As always you have to do the research for your special case situations.

For home defense why not rotate the shells in the magazine? Buck-bird and so on. With so many specialty rounds on the market for just this issue why not purchase standalone ammo?

Love the lowly, underpowered, people laugh at, under appreciated 410 bore, what a great round and my fav.
